...Η διαμάχη γύρω από τη γλώσσα της ζωγραφικής, τον επαναπροσδιορισμό της και την επανεξέταση των δυνατοτήτων της αφαίρεσης στη ζωγραφική είναι ένα άλλο κυρίαρχο ζήτημα στη δουλειά αρκετών καλλιτεχνών της συλλογής. Ζητήθηκε από τρεις ζωγράφους - την Ελένη Χριστοδούλου, τον Γιώργο Καζάζη και την Άννα Μαθιού - να δημιουργήσουν έργα σχετικά με το θέμα αυτό για την πρόσφατα ανακαινισμένη αίθουσα δεξιώσεων. Το έργο τους καταπιάνεται με την αναζήτηση νέων στρατηγικών και αντικατοπτρίζει τις τρέχουσες συζητήσεις για τη ζωγραφική και τις μεταβαλλόμενες αισθητικές αξίες της...

...Οι πίνακες του Γιώργου Καζάζη προβάλλουν τους προβληματισμούς του σχετικά με τη διάταξη, τη διακόσμηση και το ντιζάιν. Ο συνδυασμός αφαίρεσης και παραστατικότητας και η επίπεδη γραφιστική και ιδιαίτερα στυλιζαρισμένη γραφή αντλεί από ποικίλες πηγές της ποπ κουλτούρας όπως τα περιοδικά και τη διαφήμιση για να παραπέμψει στους μηχανισμούς αποπλάνησης της εικόνας στα μίντια...

...The debate surrounding the language of painting, it's redefinition, and the re-examination of the possibilities of abstraction in painting are some other predominant concerns in the work of a number of artists. Three painters, Eleni Christodoulou, George Kazazis and Ana Mathiou were asked to create works based on these issues in the newly refurbished ballroom. Their work is concerned with seeking new strategies appropriate in reflecting current debates in painting and its changing aesthetic values...

... George Kazazis' paintings display a concern for pattern, decoration and design. His fusion of abstraction and figuration and his flat, graphic, seemingly impersonal and highly polished style draws on a variety of sources from popular culture such as magazines and advertising. Kazazis thus alludes to the seductive nature of media generated imagery while at the same time he negates any ideas of 'personal' expression and painterly 'gesture'...
